My name is Julius Berger, and I was an international volunteer for Project Béisbol. I spent a month in Bogotá and then a month in Cartagena, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. It was eye-opening and life-changing to interact with different communities and build relationships not only with the players and coaches but also with the Project Béisbol staff.
Throughout my time in Colombia, I had the opportunity to explore each city and beyond, learning about the diverse cultures within the country and how baseball—an American sport—has taken on a unique social and cultural significance in Colombia.
I want to thank not only the communities, coaches, and players I worked with but also the Project Béisbol staff for making this experience possible, as well as all the donors who help turn opportunities like mine into reality.
Thank you so much.
