Background & Experience

Patricia “Patri” Morales, the founder of Metropolitanos de Cartagena, has dedicated 14 years to shaping young athletes through baseball. Since its inception on November 20, 2010, the program has positively impacted over 300 children and youth, offering them a safe space to grow, learn, and develop life skills through sports.

Patricia’s relationship with Project Beisbol goes beyond traditional support. For her, Project Beisbol is like family, providing equipment, training, and vital assistance during critical times. During the pandemic, their biweekly food donations to families in need were a testament to their generosity and compassion. Patri has proudly supported Project Beisbol’s initiatives, serving as a volunteer whenever needed.

Among her most inspiring moments with Project Beisbol are two unforgettable experiences: serving as the coordinator for a Major League Baseball Players Association event in Cartagena, where she interacted with current and former MLB players, and participating in the U.S. of State funded and Project Beisbol managed – Sport for Social Change exchange program in 2018-2019. This program allowed her to explore several U.S. cities, experience cultural exchanges, and fulfill a lifelong dream of attending a Major League Baseball game.

For Patricia, baseball is her life, her passion, and a family legacy of love. She co-founded Metropolitanos de Cartagena with a group of friends to provide children, regardless of their abilities, with opportunities to play, develop, and grow. Thanks to the fundamental support of her brother William, who immediately contributed equipment to bring the project to life, the school has become a unique space where children can develop holistically. Patricia firmly believes in teaching young athletes the importance of education and preparation beyond sports, shaping them into well-rounded individuals ready to succeed in all aspects of life.
