Background & Experience

Julián Andrés Quintero is a chemistry teacher at a public school in Roldanillo, Valle del Cauca, with 12 years of experience. He has been involved in baseball for 7 years, starting in 2017 when he created the first baseball group in his community. Since then, around 150 children and teenagers have been part of the Cancerberos baseball club. The program focuses on helping youth use their free time productively and fostering good life habits. Julián’s efforts are entirely volunteer-based, with no fees charged to participants. His connection with Project Béisbol began in 2022 and has been a key ally in supporting the club’s growth. One of his players, Leonardo, received an All-Star English scholarship, a moment that reinforced Julián’s commitment to the cause. Despite challenges like the pandemic and health issues, Julián has remained dedicated to his mission, even traveling to neighboring municipalities to expand his program. He hopes to leave a lasting legacy in Roldanillo, inspiring the creation of more baseball teams with the support of organizations like Project Beisbol. Julián expresses deep gratitude to Project Béisbol, local organizations, and all those who have supported the club, saying, “Baseball has not only changed my life but also the lives of many children and young people in our community. I am forever grateful to everyone who has believed in us and joined us in this journey.”
