International visitors 2025: Montidoros

Back to the island of Tierra Bomba for the 11th year straight — and this time, with even more to celebrate! On July 4th, the community of El Socorro, Cartagena welcomed the Montidoro family (Claudia, Andy, Dianna and Michael) from South Florida, who joined us for a friendly softball game with Bolívar’s team and baseball practice with Metropolitanos de Cartagena. Their generous equipment donation, along with supplies sent by international intern Jerry Carinojr and the Slaterettes Girls Baseball — the nation’s longest-running all-female baseball league — will provide lasting support to local players and coaches.

A huge shout out to Alice Contreras for organizing the softball game, Patricia Morales Carrington for organizing her Mets, and volunteers Elver Vivanco and Darina Alvarez for making this visit so special. The teams on the island are uniting and formalizing their programs thanks to the hard work of our partners and volunteers. Looking forward to seeing real progress this year!
