International Internship Opportunities

If you are looking for a meaningful, life-changing experience, then the International Volunteer Program is the right option for you. Our program is ideal for students and recent graduates who have played and have a passion for baseball and/or softball. You’ll have a chance to learn about other cultures, manage youth baseball and softball programs in Brazil or Colombia, and make a global impact. In addition to invaluable life experience, we offer participants the opportunity to earn college credit and play summer ball in the community you serve. Brazil:

Location: Recife & Rio de Janeiro

Work-Schedule: 5 days per week, 6 hours per day 

Start date: June 2024

Duration: 2 months minimum

Contract Type: Volunteer/Unpaid

Cost: Internship costs vary greatly depending on international travel, personal travel and activities, and housing. Total costs in Brazil can range from $3,750 to $7,000 for a two month experience. 

Responsibilities:

  • Program Coordination & Events
    • Helping local leaders organize new/existings programs
    • Schedule and events, coordinate activities, practices and games
    • Equipment inventory and donation management
    • Networking and volunteer recruitment
  • Coaching 
    • Planning practices 
    • Youth coaching 
    • Coach training (when applicable)
    • Maintaining attendance
  • English Teaching
    • Support exciting programs 
    • On-field English practice
    • Post practice English classes
  • Brazilian Portuguese Classes 
    • Classes are provided as part of the internship 
    • 1 hours per day, 5 days a week
    • Qualified, native speaking teachers

Requirements:

  • Ex-Baseball and softball players (Amateur or Professional)
  • Intermediate speaking level in Portuguese or Spanish
  • Volunteer and coaching experience a plus

Supervision & Safety:

  • Project Beisbol President & Founder will be on-site to train and orient the intern/volunteer for the first two weeks. Subsequently, local volunteers, staff and partners will offer support and guidance. Project Beisbol adheres to best safety practices in all countries and communities. Volunteers will be fully briefed on these practices prior to starting.  

Colombia:

Location: Bogota – Medellin – Cali

Work-Schedule: Five days per week, 6 hours per day

Start date: June 2024

Duration: 2 months minimum
